the local supermarket is closing down, and they were the last DVD/CD items left. (along with Katie Price's album, LAWL!)

one thing that makes me feel kinda weird is empty supermarket shelves... creeps me out a little.

 

I are back!

I finally have my laptop back, even though the computer people kept it for 3 weeks and didn't do anything to it.
I had to buy some weird multiple usb port that fits in the cardbus port, and it's really bulky, but at least I have netz0rz again!

Now for the mammoth task of catching up with my flist... (but not tonight!)

Anyway... quick catch up; my gran has been in hospital for 5 weeks, and back home for 3, after being told over and over again to expect the worse. I hate doctors, I swear they don't know what they're talking about.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time at the job centre this week, not to mention the time it takes to get there and back - 45 minutes each way. I've been on the dole for 6 months, and NOTHING has come up, jobwise... and now they tell me I have to go to some building full of lazy idiots who will live on benefits all their lives, to have meetings and assisted job searches FOR FOUR HOURS. Every week. If I had ANY money at all, I'd just stop going, but I'm completely broke. Sigh.
Ooh, having just said I've got no money, I sold one of my charm bracelets yesterday for $50! Woo!

As much as I LOVE the results, it did look rather cool & Leeloo-esque after the ( first bleaching! )

I was a little reluctant to change it, but it wasn't very evenly done, and I'm sure I'll have that colour again at some point!

First round of bleaching!

It's a little lighter than this, as it was still wet when I took the picture. I can't believe how easily my dreads bleached... I mean, I know they're still new, but they changed colour in 10-15 mins!! (As opposed to last time I bleached my un-dreaded hair, which took 2 hours to do anything whatsoever.) Must've been a more potent concoction this time! :-/

I actually really like the colour it is right now... I'm kinda tempted to have ginger hair, as I really suited it last time! (I had it this colour years ago, and it cost a small fortune at the hairdressers, grr!) Eh, maybe next time. I think I'll do a green/blue mix after the second bleaching tomorrow!

Why will no one give me a job? WHY?! I'm perfectly employable, surely? I've just been told by someone that 2 out of the 3 places I'm hoping to work are really mean to their employees. Pah. Though I'm so desperate for money that I'll put up with anything for a couple of months. If I ever get the job in the first place that is... Damn you Ebay, why'd you have to make it so hard for small time sellers?? If you hadn't chucked me off for NO REASON I could be rolling in moomah by now.

I want a REALLY good over-the-top military style coat. With epaulettes & everything.

I'm feeling creative, but can't quite get around to actually acting on it. Everything I want to make, I seem to be missing one 'ingredient' (erm?) and as I'm poor I can't buy essential things. I really want some PMC - I have the books and the tools (I think I have a blowtorch somewhere?) but no actual clay!! PAH! Similarly, I have material, patterns, thread, but no sewing machine!! It's gone walkabout! (It's possible that Bernie nicked it.)

Quite tempted to dye my hair... I have SO many colours just sat there waiting to be amazing!! I also have gallons of hair bleach & the like... but I need to buy some black dye just in case it goes horribly wrong. Also I'd have to fit it in between dogwalks... hmm I guess not then.

I want to wear a skirt but it's not the most practical item of clothing for dogwalking up here in blustery Lancashire.

I also need new boots. I've worn several pairs out this year - why aren't they actually made for walking?

Found a large bottle of Baileys (mm, creamy) in the pantry. It reminds me of Germany! How odd. I guess I must always drink it when I go! *ponders*

Arg!!! I just phoned the head housekeeper of a hotel where I want to work, and sounded like a complete n00b >_<
I was phoning to see if there were any jobs (I didn't get the job last time I applied) but I said somehitng like "...and I really want to work there!" Which would've been fine, as it's true, but for some reason my voice went all whispery and quiet as I said it, so now she's gonna think I'm some weirdo, or that I'm 5. Sigh.

I've planned my next tattoo, which I plan on getting as a celebration if/when I finally get a job. The thought of another tattoo is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.

Found good charity shop things, I shall photograph them once I have enough money for new batteries for my camera.

And they're not even showing up on my home page! I only found out as I was checking someone's journal, and realised they had replied to me. Bear with me while I search for any replies; I'm not ignoring people and I will get round to replying eventually! Grr.

It's taken me a week just to be able to think about it... but THE SIGUR ROS GIG WAS MINDBLOWING!

Me and scarredsyxx got there an hour early (which is what I always do to be honest) and there were about a dozen people already queueing. Actually I thought people would've been there a LOT earlier, but eh! *shrugs* So, eventually they opened the doors, and like the losers we are we ran like mad (just 5 people from the front of the queue then) and after putting our stuff in lockers (£2 for every item -scarf gloves hat etc- wtf) we were let into the hall... again RAN to the front AND GOT A FRONT ROW PLACE!!!!!! ABHRGIBSDNGC!!!! Stupidly I DIDN'T TAKE MY HUUUGE CAMERA because usually I get security peeps waggling fingers at me, but this time EVERYONE was taking photos! I'm so annoyed!! >_< But obv it doesn't actually matter cos I WUZ THERE ON THE FRONT ROW!!! (but next time I am sneaking my camera in regardless, ha!)

So you'll have to make do with cruddy ( phone pics. )

Did some shopping for potatoes today, and in the reduced section there was a bar of chocolate that had 'dark velvety mouthfeel' as the taste description! wtf! DX I don't know why it made me squirm so much! I actually bought it just to take a photo, but bizarrely it's gone missing! I must've left it at the checkout. Noes!

Freeganism.

I was going to mention this to purplethings but decided to make a journal post about it instead, as I think quite a few of you will find it interesting. Though you may have already heard of it of course, as its not a new thing. I read about it a year or so ago in an article in the Observer, and I WISH I'd heard about it while I was still at uni! Pah.

Anyway, if you've browsed the website, then there's not much point in me explaining it all, but I just wanted to see what people think.
I'm particularly in favour of 'urban foraging' and actually I have a lot of furniture pillaged from unlit bonfires! XD
Anyway, basically all shops throw out unsold goods, whether it's food that's just past it's sell-by dates (which I'm sure I don't need to remind anyone, are RUBBISH - what happened to using common sense? Ok, so meat may be a little risky, but as I don't eat it, that's not an issue for me XD), clothes, stationery etc, and with it being officially 'trash' it is anyone's for the taking. M&S for example throw out everything, and don't even have a reduced section as it 'doesn't suit their image' apparently, wtf. Wankers.

I have tried to go dumpster diving locally, but the supermarket near me has locks on the skips, so that's ruled them out. >_< Though I've heard some supermarkets pour a load of detergent on the food in the skips, to stop anyone from being able to eat it. How spiteful is that?! But I also heard of a security guard who met for a chat with the Freegans every night, which I think is sweet! ^.^
I know I could go to one of the nearby cities and try, but I just don't feel like rummaging through skips in the middle of the night on my own! I've mentioned it to several of my friends, but they all say "Eww!" or just look at me like I'm mad. Sigh.

When I was little, I actually used to assume that all the food/clothes/etc that weren't sold, were given to people without any! If only.

Oh, and this program is coming out in November apparently! XD

I went to book a tattoo on my hand today (I want a triforce! I don't care if it's lame; I'm proud to be a geek!!), but the tattooist won't tattoo 'public skin' - meaning faces, necks and hands, as they don't want the responsibility of people being unemployable! WTF!! As if I hadn't thought of that... so now I have to think of something else to get. Unless I go to a different tattoo parlour... Sigh.

Also I haven't received my jobseekers allowance, even though I was told it'd be in my account on the Monday just gone. Grr.

There are many other hotels I can try but this one would've been good as I could've scrounged a lift off my friends mum! Darn. Everyone needs to listen to the song on my Myspace page, it makes me cry all the time.

The other day I took a dove to the vet that I found lying in my gran's garden, but when I went in there today to pick up something for the Tobe, they told me it died over night :( Apparently it had a disease that many pigeons etc get, which messes up their balance, and they sometimes survive, but this one didn't. But the vet was really nice and said bringing in it was the right thing to do. Ah well, it was marginally better than being mauled to death by a cat I imagine.

I feel a bit bland at the moment; I haven't been able to do anything creative. I think I'm too worried about other things, ie money. I'm waiting to hear back about the housekeeping job, but nothing as of yet... I don't know what other job I can do that still gives me time to look after Toby and visit my gran AND do all the other things I have to do. And I don't mean fun things or free time, I realise both of those would be out of the question. If I have to do everything after coming home from a 9-5(or longer) job, I just won't make it :( Yeah yeah, I know other people manage it just fine; I guess I'm just not strong enough to do that. It will finish me off; I'm already struggling.

Doing some work for the council tomorrow, just interviewing bus users outside Asda. I don't even know why I said I'd do it, it's hardly worth it... I'll probably get £25 at the most. All counts I 'spose.

There's a huge string of cobweb hanging from the light... it's all black with dust. Why've I never seen that before?

scarredsyxx  is visiting on Friday, and it can't come soon enough. Stocked up on peroxide and food! Haha!!

Found another baby newt in the house last night, this time I actually stepped on it!! D: But my weight was on my other foot, so I didn't crush it! I felt something cold under my foot and was appalled that it might be a slug (we've had an infestation for years, and I loathe them) so I peered closer and it was the teeeeniest newt ever! ^.^ I let it go near some rocks next to the pond, and blocked the gap under the door just in case any more were drawn to the warmth.

THE biggest slug I've ever seen was trying to get into the house under the front door the other week! It was about 5/6 inches long, but the real ewwness was it's width - it was 2 inches wide in the middle!!! Now I love creepy crawlies, but for some reason I can't stand slugs... snails are cute, with their little houses on their backs, but slugs... *shudder* ...I don't know, it's just something about them. I shooed it away, then went out with Toby. BUT when I came back it was outside the back door!! D: D: I took some pictures but they're on the other poota, so I may upload a couple tomorrow.

Oh, and a large wolf spider ran under my bed last night, which is quite unusual, as they don't usually come upstairs. I tried to catch it but it was too fast... it'll probably scare Toby half to death, as he's taken to sleeping under my bed, with just his feet sticking out ^.^ And he's not the bravest dogglie in the world.

Ham is coming to see Sigur Rós with me!!!!!!! YAY!!!! I don't have to ask some random boy off okcupid.com after all!!! :D :D :D

A quick review of bands/singers etc at Greenbelt this weekend, then pictars!

Seth Lakeman - he completely blew me away, especially wth Kitty Jay! He has such a  presence on stage, and though we couldn't actually determine the words he was singing (I don't think his sound people were very good!) but his playing was astounding... he really is someone to see live. I mean, on CD he's brilliant, but live he's something else!!
Beth Rowley - Gorgeous rich voice, great songs, and she has really nice hair.
Daby Touré - Great to dance to!! Lots of rhythm, catchy songs but not cheesy.
Iain Archer - Brill, as always!
Julie Lee - Really really nice voice, and a sweet person, but talks waaaay too much! though I think she was just nervous. Better on CD, methinks, at least until she stops rambling between songs!
Martyn Joseph - Words cannot describe how good this man is - see for yourself!
Yvonne Lyon - Great Scottish singer songwriter.
Foreign Slippers - Great sound, but their Myspace only has oe song as of now... hmm.
Captain Cameron - a short pirate with a guitar.

I adore Jonsi, he's so cuuuuute! ^.^ ...But of course he's gay, as are 90% of the guys I'm attracted to... Seriously, it's happened all my life. All though school and college, and also famous people, as you can see. Basically I can tell if someone's gay by whether I them or not... and it's not 'typically' gay people by any means. (that's not meant to offend in any way either.)

"Hmm, he's probably gay," has become a bit of a joke between me and chums whenever I see someone I'm attracted to. Sigh.
